Research Abstract |
Molecular mechanisms of placode fate determination in vertebrates were studied. The involvement of FGF and BMP signalings were shown in cultured tissues. Furthermore, the requirement of mutual repression between Pax3 and Pax6 genes in trigeminal placode development were also revealed.
