Research Abstract |
The fungus Candida albicans colonizes the mucosal tissue of the oral cavity and the gastrointestinal tract, where it is part of the normal commensal microflora. However, under immune-compromised conditions, it can cause local and systemic candidiasis. To understand host defense mechanism against Candida, we analysed the interaction of signaling between TLR9 and dectin-2.As a result, we observed the collaborative induction of immune responses by these two receptors, which regulated the immunological status of the host during Candida albicans infection.
