| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では、インプロ（即興演劇）におけるジェンダー・バイアス克服を目指して米国で考案された上演形式「ザ・ベクデルテスト」（BT）の構造及び背景にある理念を明らかにするとともに、日本で継続的にBT実践を行うことによるインプロ演者の変容過程を解明する。そのために、本研究の実施主体となるパフォーマンス集団を結成し、研究代表者及び分担者自身も演者として関わりながら研究を遂行するアクションリサーチを行う。以上を通して、日本におけるインプロ実践方法論をジェンダーの視点から再構築し、社会における性をめぐる格差の是正に向けた知見を、演劇パフォーマンスの領域から提示する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we investigated the concept, structure and characteristics of the improv performance format "The Bechdel Test" (BT) through interviews with creator Lisa Rowland and other improvisers and through their workshops. We found that BT was conceived as a response to the male-centered method of constructing a story in improv up to now, and that it was developed with the aim of depicting the diverse and complex daily lives of "women" using the keyword "What else?". We also described the transformation process of the performers through repeated performances of BT by out project team, focusing on 1) the co-organizers (Naoi and Sonobe), 2) male performers, and 3) female performers with infants.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、日本では研究的にも実践的にも充分に進められてきていない「ジェンダー」の視点からのインプロ実践研究を前進させたものである。ザ・ベクデルテストという上演形式は、その重要性がインプロの国際会議で指摘されながらも、それを日本のなかでいかに上演できるのか、その実践を通してどのような問題提起が可能となるのかは具体的に検討されてこなかった。本研究は、考案者ローランドの理念を引き継ぎながら、日本のジェンダーの文脈での効果的な上演形式を再構築しており、そこに学術的・社会的意義があると言える。
