Outline of Research at the Start

磁性イオンが二量体化した化合物では量子揺らぎの効果により非自明な磁気特性を示す。本研究課題では量子スピン系化合物であるNaCu2VP2O10の二量体構造を活用し、結合距離や結合角等の磁性イオンの配位環境を制御することで、電子物性の探索を行う。構造評価にはX線回折法および透過型電子顕微鏡法を横断的に駆使し、マクロな物性とミクロな結晶構造の関係を明らかにすることで、二量体構造制御による物性制御を実現する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The crystal structure and electrical properties of NaCu2VP2O10 were investigated to understand the physical properties attributed to the dimmer structures. In NaCu2VP2O10, CuO4 plaquettes form Cu2O6 structural dimers through edge-sharing. NaCu2VP2O10 shows a nonmagnetic spin-singlet ground state at low temperatures. In contrast, when a few nonmagnetic ions were substituted at the Cu sites, impurity-induced antiferromagnetism was observed in NaCu2VP2O10. Controlling the atomic arrangements in the local structure leads to changes in magnetic properties.

遷移金属酸化物は金属イオンの配位環境や局所構造に起因して様々な電子物性を示す。磁性イオンが二量体構造を形成する化合物では量子ゆらぎの効果を示すことがあり、特徴的な電子物性を示すことがある。このような物質群の局所構造を制御することで電子物性の開拓を目指し、結晶構造解析および物性評価を行った。本研究で得られた二量体構造の配位環境の制御およびその磁気物性に関する知見は新規機能性物質の探索を加速させることが期待できる。
