Angiotensin II-induced cardiac hypertrophy was suppressed in TRPM2knockout mice. In neonatal rat ventricular myocytes, overexpression of TRPM2 enhancedthe promoter activity of BNP and RCAN1 gene. On the other hand, TRPM2 inhibitor suppressedthe promoter activity of BNP and RCAN1 gene. These data suggested that TRPM2 has anacceleratory effect on cardiac hypertrophy.
