Research Abstract |
We devised brain ischemia and reperfusion animal (rat) model analogous to blood oxidative and anti-oxidative states observed in Vegetative State patients after cardiac and pulmonary arrest and resuscitation. In this model, Vitamin C 10mg and 20mg/body administrations just before reperfusion suppressed the increase of plasma reactive oxygen metabolites after the reperfusion and Vitamin C 20mg/body administration just before reperfusion increased the plasma biological antioxidant potential.
