Grant-in-Aid for Challenging Exploratory Research
We generated human iPS cells from the retinal tissues obtained during surgery. By methylation analysis, the iPS cells have characteristics of stem cells similar to those of ES cells. Neural retina cells and retinal pigmented epithelia are identified in teratoma formation. Thus the iPS cells are useful to from highly differentiated retinal cells for reproducing medicine.
