Outline of Research at the Start

GAFAなどのプラットフォーマーの中央集権制によるユーザのプライバシー侵害が問題となっており、インターネットの民主化の必要性が叫ばれている。一方で、エッジコンピューティング等のサービス提供基盤の分散化が新たな潮流となっている。本研究では、分散環境に親和性の高い情報指向ネットワーク (ICN) と、分散台帳技術(ブロックチェーン)を融合させ、全く新たな分散型ネットワークサービス提供基盤の形成を目指す。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Information-Centric Networking (ICN) has a high affinity for distributed environments, and thus it can be combined with a distributed ledger technology, which is also a decentralized system architecture. This study aims to propose a completely new platform for providing distributed network services. To build the platform for in-network computing, we focused on designing base functions of an ICN software necessary to realize ICN-based in-network computing, and developed ICN router functions using the Docker container, which is a famous micro-services technology. In addition, we proposed a routing method for discovering multiple functions distributed in the network.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

従来研究では、ICNを用いたネットワーク内コンピューティングの研究は多く存在するが、それらの多くは、既存のルーチングプロトコルを利用する前提で検討されている。本研究では、ユーザが求める計算処理が複数機能を必要とする、いわゆる、機能チェイニング(Function Chaining)も対象とし、機能の組み合わせから成る最短経路を発見する必要があるため、経路選択問題としてより複雑化する課題に取り組むという点で、学術的創造性が高い。また、Dockerなどのマイクロサービス技術を用いて実装・デプロイメントまで視野に入れた実機評価も行なっている点で学術的・社会的意義がある。
