Research Abstract |
A gamma-ray measurement has been performed using scintillating photons generated in a detector. However, in general, detectors with good energy resolution have poor timing resolution. In this research, we successfully developed the detection mechanism by measuring gamma-ray energy and timing using scintillating photons and Cherenkov photons, respectively. As a result, we can apply this method to electro-magnetic calorimeters used in particle physics and recently highly advance PET medical examination. The detector performance in both fields is higher improved.
