Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to clarify mathematical modeling abilities and attitudes, and to build teaching and learning of mathematical modeling to foster them. Mathematical modeling abilities was defined by abilities to control and monitor the entire mathematical modeling process and abilities required to perform formulation, mathematical processing, and interpretation and evaluation. I investigated teaching and learning to foster abilities and attitudes of mathematical modeling. The first is teaching and learning of empirical modeling and theoretical modeling. The other is teaching and learning of the fundamental thinking of a least-squares method.
