Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to improve the accuracy of the dating for Japanese Buddhist statues. There are two way to research for the statues on this study. One is tree-ring dating analysis, and the other is art historical approach. Dendrochronological research for the statues give us not only the information of the date of the woods of the statues, but also some information for the locality of the woods or distribution channels of the woods. And this study is also examining the propriety of the validity of tree-ring dating method for Japanese Torreya (Kaya).
