Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Beta-cell replacement is a promising therapy for type 1 diabetes. But shortage of pancreas donor is serious problem in Japan . Many reports has been existed about success of induction beta-cell from embryonic stem cells or induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS), however risk of teratoma formation is obstacle for clinical application. Here we show EGFR receptor ligands can dedifferentiate pancreatic acini derived from adult mice. Nestin positive cells can be obtained and they show stem cell like characters.
