Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To determine if writing about stressful life experiences affects disease status in patients with cancer using standardized quantitative outcome measures.Research has demonstrated that expressive writing about emotionally traumatic experiences has a surprisingly beneficial effect on symptom reports, well-being, and health care use in healthy individuals.Randomized controlled trial conducted between October 2015 and March 2018. Invaluable patients 4 months after treatment, cancer patients in the experimental group showed improvements in stress activity (p<0.05, Wilcoxn . Control group patients showed no change or worse. The experimental group showed improvements in stress after one year treatment (p<0.05, Wilcoxn test). 1year after treatment health-related QOL(SF-36) was improved in the experimental patients group but control group patients health-related QOL showed worse after treatment.
