Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to measure the HTLV-1 proviral load of HTLV-1 carrier pregnant woman and to clarify the relation between proviral load of HTLV-1 carrier pregnant woman and occurrence of maternal to fetal infection of HTLV-1.
Proviral load of HTLV-1 vary widely in each HTLV-1 carrier pregnant woman, some of the cases show very small amount. The children born to HTLV-1 carrier mothers are planed to check the occurrence of maternal to fetal infection of HTLV-1 soon after.
To know the occurrence of maternal to fetal infection of HTLV-1 will clarify the relation between the proviral load of HTLV-1 carrier woman and maternal to fetal infection of HTLV-1.
