Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A questionnaire survey was conducted with family support centers (hereinafter referred to as “Center”) throughout Japan regarding their engagement with respective regional councils of countermeasures for children requiring aid (hereinafter referred to as“Council”) and child abuse cases. As the results, the following facts were found: (1) The ratio of cases handled by Councils was only 4.0% of the total cases actually consulted with Councils; (2) 91.6% of Centers provided supports in child abuse cases; and (3) Centers’“advantages” in supporting child abuse cases were (i)【Centers are more access-friendly for guardians】, (ii)【Centers provide more flexible supports】and (iii)【Centers support parents with more empathy】. Based on such findings, this study has clarified that the role and future challenge of Centers is to proactively engage in supports for municipalities with prioritizing the cases registered to Councils including child abuse.
