| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to find out what causes self-worth decline in adolescent girls. As a result of examining the relationship between self-worth, depression tendency, and academic performance through analysis of 3 years’longitudinal data of 2 cohorts of junior high school girls, it was suggested that the self-worth of junior high school first graders would be significantly lower in the second grader, and that the decline would be related to the loss of interpersonal self-confidence and heightened depressive tendency rather than academic performance as a background, and the choice of university was not based on their psychological self-worth.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
まず、学術的には、思春期の女子の自己評価の低下に関する研究は多いが、学業成績や学業的自己概念を要因としてとりあげ、他の心理的要因との関連を縦断的に検討した研究は見当たらず、中学、高校における女子の自己概念に関する重要な示唆をもたらした点で意義があるといえる。
社会的には、今日、女性の活躍が期待されている一方で、思春期女子の自信が低下することが知られている。本研究は、女性が男性以上に意欲をもって活躍しようとする動機を高める上で示唆をもたらした点で、社会的意義があるといえる。
