Research Abstract |
In order to observe rare phenomena in particle physics, high intensity accelerators are now proposed: SSC, K-factory, B-factory, and Z-factory. Those experiments require high repetition electromagnetic calorimeter to detect rare events in the high level backgrounds. Barium fluoride hae recently attracted considerable interest as a shower material for electro magnetic calorimeters because of its fast response. We have investigated the following subjects; (1) Detection of first component signals :Using C_sT_e photocathode or band-pass filters. (2) Linearities and resolutions for the fast component signals. (3) B_aF_2 response to incident particle species: Electron, proton, pion. (4) Electron/ pion identification.
