| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
2022年度は総括班の事務・連絡体制および研究サポート体制を構築した。まずCO world領域事務支援室を東工大に設置し、事務支援体制を構築した。領域代表の下、隔月の頻度で開催される総括班会議により意思決定が効率よくなされる体制が整えられた。
一方、研究支援については、LCオービトラップ分析計を領域共用機器として導入した。同分析計は東工大に設置され、領域技術支援員のサポートの下、運用を開始した。これは超精密質量分析が可能な先端のLCMSシステムであり、化学班、環境班、生物班とさらに公募研究班を横断する活動を支援する。
また、本年度は領域メンバーを一同に介したキックオフミーティング(8月)、国際ワークショップ(Chemical Roots of Metabolism: 1月)を開催し、領域の研究を後押しするとともに、その活動を国内外に発信した。さらに2023年3月には松島においてExoMars-TGO/NOMAD symposiumを東北大と共催した。この国際会議は特に火星大気観測ミッションに関わるもので、CO world領域からの成果としては火星大気COが極度に13Cに枯渇することを観測(Aoki, Ueno et al. in review)、理論(Yoshida, Aoki, Ueno et al., 2023)、実験(Ueno, Kurokawa, Usui et al., in review)によって示したことが挙げられる。これにより惑星大気COの役割を同位体異常から明らかにしてゆく基盤を強固にすることができた。
さらに、研究成果の発信及び若手支援のため、論文出版経費等支援制度を構築した。本年度は環境班RAによるNature Communication誌に受理された論文についてオープンアクセス経費を支援した。

Reason
領域事務室の設置、最新鋭機器と技術支援院による研究支援体制の構築、３回の国内外研究集会の開催など、半年余りの期間で領域活動推進の基礎固めをするには十分なスタートダッシュに成功したと認識している。また、それぞれ密に行われている各班会議の情報は効率よく総括班会議に集約できており、そのため素早い意思決定が可能となっていることが大きい。

前年度と同様に総括班会議の下で運営を効率的に行う。領域の活動発信については、HPに改善の余地があり、その更新を行う。また公募班を加えた活動を活性化するためのワークショップ、領域の国際ネットワークを形成するためのシンポジウム等を国内外において開催する。これと並行して、よりトピック的な話題についてタイムリーに情報交換するため、CO world seminarと題したオンラインの定期セミナーを新たに行う計画である。
