Outline of Annual Research Achievements

霊長類、げっ歯類モデルでの脳深部振動と運動制御に関して、以下の研究を行った。
パーキンソン病の病態生理に関して、これまで大脳基底核や視床の神経活動が調べられており、平均発射頻度の変化や発射パターンの変化などが報告されてきた。これらの神経活動は最終的に大脳皮質に伝達されることにより、症状を発現していると考えられるが、大脳皮質の神経活動を調べた報告は少ない。そこで本年度は、パーキンソン病の病態を調べるため、ドーパミン神経毒であるMPTPを投与してパーキンソン病にしたニホンザルの一次運動野(M1)と補足運動野(SMA)から神経活動の記録を行った。パーキンソン病の際には、M1とSMAの神経活動のうち時間、周波数、非線形パラメータなどが変化していた。しかし、例えばパーキンソン病の際、M1の発射頻度は上昇するがSMAは変化しない、発射頻度のばらつきはM1では減少するがSMAでは不変、M1ではα帯域とβ帯域は増大するのに対し、SMAでは減少するなど、M1とSMAとで異なる変化を示した。概してM1の方がSMAに比べて、受ける影響が大きかった。このようなM1とSMAの複雑な変化は、感覚ー運動のコントロールの破綻によって特徴づけられるパーキンソン病の症状の複雑さを反映していると考えられる。M1とSMAの活動が異なることから、パーキンソン病は大脳皮質の神経活動に対して一様な影響を与えているのではないことがわかった。パーキンソン病の際の大脳皮質の神経活動を、今後も調べる必要がある。
