Research Abstract |
Cells in early mouse embryos make a community by communicating each other. In this study, we focused on the Hippo signaling pathway and analyzed the roles and underlying mechanisms of cell-cell contacts in regulation of this cellular community, and made following achievements: mechanisms of position-dependent cell fate specification in preimplantation embryos, mechanisms of cell density sensing by a cell, establishment of live imaging system for post-implantation embryos, identification of the importance of the mechanical forces generated by extra-embryonic tissues for notochord morphogenesis, establishment of the systems for analyses of inter-cellular communication in cultured cells and in post-implantation embryos, mechanisms by which Sall4 maintains primordial germ cells, and induction of three-dimensional kidney tissues from stem cells through identification of developmental origin of kidney cells.
