| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本年度は，2002年に福岡県久山町の循環器健診を受診した40歳以上の住民3,098名を10年間追跡した成績を用いて，必須脂肪酸であるエイコサペンタエン酸（EPA）とアラキドン酸（AA）の血中濃度比（EPA/AA比）が総死亡・死因別死亡におよぼす影響について検討した．対象者をEPA/AA比のレベルで4群（4分位）に分けて検討すると，EPA/AA比の第4分位（高値）群を基準とした総死亡のハザード比（多変量調整後）は，第1分位（低値）群で1.46と有意に上昇した．死因別にみると，悪性腫瘍による死亡のハザード比はEPA/AA比の第1分位で1.93と有意に高かったが，EPA/AA比は循環器疾患およびその他の疾患を原因とする死亡との間に明らかな関連がなかった．以上の成果を国際学会（6th International Conference on Phospholipase A2 and Lipid Mediators）にて発表した．
