Research Abstract	天体現象においては、自己重力が本質的に係わる場合が多く、このため現象は非線形・非平衡でありかつ非一様となる場合が多々あり問題の解析を複雑にしている。従ってこれらの現象の解析には、超高速計算機を用いたシミュレ-ションが有効な手段となり得る。特に最近のス-パ-コンピュ-タ-の演算速度や記憶容量の飛躍的発展によって、以前は不可能であった間題が解析可能となってきている。しかし、それら超高速計算機の能力を十分生かして、かつ天体物理に本質的な重力の効果を考慮したソフトウェア-に関しては、十分な完成度に達しているとはいえず、その開発に関しても個別に行われているにすぎない。一方球状星団のような重力多体系の問題のように重力の計算部分は極めて簡単な表式であるため専用計算機を設計・製作した方が良い場合もある。そこで、個々の天体現象をシミュレ-ションによって解析して、発見法的に基本法則の求めたり、観測天文学に於いての現象論となり得る様な数値的天文学の麹築のために、その基礎となる計算法や専用マシンの設計を確立する事が本申請研究の目的であった。以上の目的に沿って、今年度の活動は平成4年3月5日と6日に文部省共済組合箱根宿泊所で「超高速計算機(ス-パ-コンピュ-タ-・重力専用計算機)による数値的天文学」と題する研究会を開催した。研究会の参加者は60名であり、数値的相対論、超新星爆発現象、専用計算機の開発、計算法の紹介、新型形算機の使用体験、衝撃波や磁気流体現象、重力不安定性および宇宙論と多様なテ-マに関して研究発表と活発な議論がなされた。講演者数は40にものぼり、天文学や天体物理学に於いて、いかに数値計算やシミュレ-ションが研究手段として活発に使われているかを表すものと考えられる。本年は、邦文の研究会集録を作り関連する研究者に当総合研究の成果を配布する。
