Research Abstract	熱電発電(TEC)およびアルカリ金属熱電発電(AMTEC)のブレ-クスル-を目指し、プラズマ・イオンプロセス、超高圧極限条件下での新素材開発と発電デバイスの研究を行った。 1.熱電新素材開発と発電デバイス開発[松原(山口大)、島田(東北大)、河本(東大)、羽坂(長崎大)] (1)FeSi_2系微粒子(平均粒径〜2μm)をO_2,SiH_4(シラン)プラズマ中で処理することによって、性能指数が従来のものより〜10倍程度アップできた。プラズマ処理により、セラミックス粒界での構造欠陥が減少し、出力因子が増大することを明らかにした。(2)Ruを置換したβーFeSi_2セラミックスについて検討し、Fe_<0.9>Ru_<0.1>Si_2で転移温度1050℃が得られた。(3)熱CVDにより高温度で出力因子の大きいB_<13>C_2(pーtype)を開発した。また、結晶の微細構造がゼ-ベック係数に多大な影響を与えることを示した。(4)スピンキャスト法(回転ロ-ルによる超急冷法)によりFeSi_2系の鉄ケイ化物のフォイルを作製し、これらの構造因子と熱電気的特性との関係についての基礎的デ-タを得た。 2.アルカリ金属熱電発電用のβ"ーアルミナ及び金属電極の開発[加藤(九大)、平田(鹿児島大)] AMTECの主要材料であるβ"ーアルミナについては、焼結体の密度が高くて粒子サイズが大きいほど耐食性が高い。また電極については、チタン、ニオブの炭化物、窒化物の電極を開発し、発電実験により、その優位性を明らかにした。 3.熱電変換システムの応用開発研究[松浦(阪大)、嵐(東北大)] (1)熱電デバイスの電力発電システムへの適用可能性について、要素モデルにより検討しその基礎となる熱電材料の諸パラメ-タの測定から、有益な基本的デ-タを得た。(2)多孔質ZrO_2セラミックス電解セルと熱電発電モジュルを併用した新しいタイプの水素製造システムを提案し、これについての基礎的知見を得た。
