Research Abstract	1.既存望遠鏡による観測研究の推進 (1)木曽観測所の大型シュミット望遠鏡による観測に基づいて,かみのけ座銀河団およびうお座・ペルセウス座領域の多数の銀河の距離を決定し宇宙の膨張率を定めるハッブル定数をH_0=78-92km/s/Mpcと求めた。空の方向によりH_0が有意に異なることから,距離決定の基礎あるいは宇宙膨張の一様性が疑われることを示唆した。 (2)局部超銀河団中の銀河の特異速度場を描き,所謂「グレ-トアトラクタ-」モデルが必ずしも確立したものとは言えないことを示した。 2.理論的研究 (2)宇宙項が存在するとした場合について観測デ-タと理論モデルの整合性を調べ,宇宙定数がゼロでない可能性を広い見地から再検討する必要があることを示した。 (3)冷たい暗黒物質が存在する場合の宇宙の大規模構造の形成過程を数値シミュレ-ションで追い,構造パタ-ンとそれに付隨する銀河の特異速度場を観測デ-タと比較する諸種の手法を開拓した。 (3)星の進化経路を精密に追跡し,銀河進化モデルを改良した。 3.観測装置の開発研究 (1)CCD素子を8個×2列(16個)並べて,8千×2千画素という世界最大の有効面積を持つモザイクCCDカメラの開発に成功した。 (2)岡山1.8m望遠鏡の制御システムをネットワ-ク環境の下で構築し,装置開発のための統一的なインタ-フェイスを作った。 4.大量デ-タ解析システムの開発研究 (1)ディジタルな天文画像デ-タから,天体を自動検出し,星と銀河を自動識別するソフトウェアの骨格を完成した。 (2)約800個の銀河の画像デ-タのデ-タベ-ス化の準備を進めた。
