Research Abstract	長寿命の放射性廃棄物を転換・消滅して、遠い未来のリスクを大幅に軽減するための方法を探究し、そのシステムを設計して特性を調べるとともに、核燃料サイクルにおけるその位置付けまで検討する研究を推進した。本年度は、3年計画の最後であり、研究のとりまとめに重点をおくとともに、本研究班以外の外部の研究者と一緒に議論するため、日本原子力学会「消滅処理工学」研究専門委員会との合同研究会を開催した。さらに科学技術論ばかりではなく、長寿命放射性廃棄物の倫理的側面について、京都大学文学部加藤尚武教授の講演を聴き、討議した。各分担課題とも多くの研究成果を挙げたが、以下極く簡単にまとめて示す。1.新しい消滅処理の方法について調査を進めた。2.核分裂関連では、マルチモード過程の実験的検討、即発中性子の解析と実験、Am3核種の核分裂断面積測定が行われた。3.核破砕関係でも実験と解析が進行した。また数十MeV〜数百MeV領域の核データも数多く求められた。4.廃棄物の転換・消滅システムについて、数種類の解析が進行するとともに京都大学臨界集合体実験装置による実験がスタートし、Np-237のU-235に対する核分裂比が測定され実験値との比較検討がなされた。5.群分離の方法として、高温化学分離プロセスの可能性について実験的検討が行われた。6.消滅処理用燃料(ターゲット)に関連し、金属の製法および水素化物の検討などが進めらた。7.核燃料サイクル全体の中で消滅処理の位置付けと総合的評価の研究が進み、その特長が示された。
