Research Abstract	本年度は次の計画と方法で研究を実施し,次の成果を挙げることができた。 1.全体計画白亜紀のイベント的地質現象に注目して,生物の多様性,大規模火成活動,海洋プレート沈み込み方向の変化,海嶺の沈み込みの影響,堆積盆地の起源と発達,等を中心に事例をまとめることができた。 2.地域研究ユーラシア大陸と原日本弧および原始太平洋相互の地史的関係を検討するため,次の諸地域の堆積盆地の特性を観察し,相互の比較を行った。西南日本では豊西層群,関門層群,手取層群;中軸帯では御船層群,大野川層群;外帯では九州・四国・関東山地の四万十帯白亜系;東北日本では北海道の蝦夷超層群。 3.環太平洋地域との比較研究東・南アジア諸国の白亜系研究資料を収集し,まとめた。また,西太平洋海底の後期中生代堆積物の比較研究も行われ,放散虫生層序の確立と広域対比に重要な資料が得られた。 4.研究集会総合討論会を仙台で開催し,白亜紀イベント問題を中心に本総合研究の成果をまとめ,今後の白亜紀環境変化の研究に重要な基礎資料を提供することができた。 5.出版物の発行研究経過について,本年度に2回のニュースレターを発行した。また,ニュースレター特別号として東・南アジア地域の白亜系に関する基礎資料を出版し,国際的に好評を得ている。
