"Health condition", "The spheres within which one feels oneself to be making a useful contribution to family life, "The extent to which one is appreciated by those around one", "The extent to which one feels that one has an outlet for ones abilities", "The feeling that one is tackling new things", "The level of satisfaction with ones life". The ratings given to these items showed that lifestyle and attitudes became increasingly negative with increasing age. 3) The Relationship between Mental Ability and Lifestyle The most noteworthy results of this survey was that an extremely significant correlation between level of mental ability and lifestyle was observed. Irrespective of age and gender it was found that the higher the level of "life satisfaction" the higher the level of mental ability and the less mental deterioration was observed. Under a factor analysis, this tendency was found to be significant over two dimensions namely : steady state life satisfaction and dynamic life satisfaction in the responses to almost all the questions posed. Conclusion From the above data one can claim that mental deterioration increase in both men and women with age but, not only can choice of lifestyle be seen as an effective means of preventing this decline, lifestyle is also related to the individuals zest for life.
