Research Abstract	環北極雪氷圏として極域カナダ、極域ロシア、ノルウェー極域、東部シベリア、グリーンランドを研究地域に設定した。グリーンランド、ノルウェー極域には調査観測隊員を派遣した。各地域で各種環境試料の採取を実施し、北極域での環境変化の現況を調査した。具体的には以下の通りである。 1.極域カナダについてはカナダ地質調査所との共同研究のもと同地域から採取した雪氷コアの物理解析を実施している。ここでは過去の環境試料として現間氷期の雪氷コア試料のみならず氷期の氷まで取り扱い、氷期の北極雪氷圏気候・環境変動研究を行うことに成功した。 2.極域ロシアでは昨年度本補助金によって採取した雪氷試料の解析によって、物質輸送経路の解明を行った。 3.東部シベリアにおけるシベリア高気圧の発達に伴う雪氷現象の解明は、国内解析によって極域環境の抽出と広域雪氷観測の融合に努めた。 4.グリーンランドでは国際共同研究(North Grip)に参加し、デンマーク・コペンハーゲン大学、ドイツ・アルフレッド・ウェゲナー研究所と共同観測を実施した。雪氷層掘削を行ない、コアの一部を国内に持ち帰り解析を進めている。今後わが国の南極における雪氷深層掘削コア解析研究と連携し、両極域を対象としたグローバルな地球環境の研究を展開していく。 5.ノルウェー極域では現北極雪氷圏の低温化を妨げている海洋圏影響の解明を目的とし、海洋圏の影響を大きく受けているノルウェー・スバールバル諸島北東島東氷河で雪氷コアの掘削を実施した。以上に述べたように現北極雪氷圏気候・環境変動研究として幅広い調査・観測を実施した。人間活動の影響が集約的に現れている環北極雪氷圏全体を研究対象とし、各地域の雪氷環境特性を比較研究した。雪氷コア解析データを検討し、環北極雪氷圏の気候・環境変動研究を進める。また雪氷圏における物質フラックスの解明の観点から雪氷雪試料中の環境指標シグナルを抽出するとともに、その発現の地域特性を明らかにする。
