Research Abstract	板倉は、インスリン依存性糖尿病(IDDM)マウスの膵ラ島A細胞に活性型TGF-β1を発現するトランスジェニックマウス(Tg)を作成し、NODマウスの糖尿病の発症が抑制されることを見出した。CooperはAmylinと糖尿病の関係をTgやノックアウトマウスで検討した。小坂は骨髄造血環境での単球、骨髄間質線維芽細胞のActivin-A(Act-A)、follistatin(FS)の産生が、炎症性サイトカインや活性化T細胞の接着を介する細胞間相互作用により調節されることを見出し、Franceは胎盤由来Act-A、CRHの量比が分娩の引き金となることを証明、血清中の両者の量のモニターで、早期分娩の危険性を察知できるとした。河野は小児の自家末梢血幹細胞移植術法(PBSCT)では、PBSCT後のG-CSF投与は必要ないことを見出した。また小児健常人ドナーから末梢血幹細胞(PBSC)を採取する同種移植術も確立した。Crosierらは新型受容体チロシンキナーゼ(Dtk)遺伝子のcDNA、遺伝子座、ligand、機能を検討し、Dtkは胎児期の造血臓器、神経の発生・発育にも必須であることを見出した荒瀬は28個のヒト毛乳頭特異的新型遺伝子を見出し、そのうち10個の新規遺伝子のDNA配列を決定、遺伝子産物機能や皮膚での局在を解析中でノックアウトマウスも作成中である。Greenは、ヒドラ、蛙などの胎児組織にgapjunctionのantisense deoxyoligonucleotide作用させると臓器の形成が妨げられることより、臓器の形成・発育にはGap Junctionを通じての細胞間情報交換が必須であることを見出した。Merrileesは、動脈壁でのTGF-β1とmatrix proteoglycan(Pgとくにversican、biglycan、decorin)の量と分布が粥状変成の危険度が類推できることを見出した。
