Research Abstract

真核細胞は膜系を発達させ、コンパートメントを形成することを一つの大きな特徴とする。この細胞内コンパートメントはそれぞれ特徴的かつ特殊化された環境をもち、細胞内での機能的、空間的な機能分化をおこなっている。この各オルガネラは独自の機能を保ちながら、膜小胞を介して相互に物質を交換し、その相互の関係はきわめて動的なものであること明きらかにされてきた。
植物細胞における空胞系の機能は植物の生理機能に重要であることは、以前から注目されており、その動態を分子レベルで解析することは植物細胞の理解に不可欠の課題である。
本研究では、酵母、植物、動物細胞を対象に研究を行っている研究者を11名の班員をもって構成され、各々の研究のもつ背景とこれまでの成果を相互に比較、分析し、さらに新たな研究手法、概念の確立を計り、植物細胞における空胞系の動態の分子メカニズムを明らかにすることを目的とした。
今年度もそれぞれの系で多くの成果を得ることが出来た。大隅と森安は自食作用に関する新しい知見を得た。野口と中野はER、ゴルジ間の輸送と局在化機構に関する新しい知見を得た。和田、西村は液胞形成、機能分化の分子レベルでの解析を進めた。中村、竹川は液胞酵素のターゲティング機構を明らかにした。前島は水チャネルの動態と機能解析を行った。三村はリン酸輸送の制御機構を解析した。森山はミクロベシクルの解析から細胞内情報伝達機構を解明した。本研究領域は世界的にも日進月歩のであり、今後の更なる発展により、植物細胞の本質的な理解と、動物細胞にはない独自の戦略の理解につなが留ことが期待される。
