| Research Abstract |
本研究は、日本人研究者13名および外国人研究者6名で実施された。次に、その調査・研究内容を示す。1) 月、バイカル湖のバイカルアザラシおよびバイカル湖周辺域の渡り鳥を採取し、これらの動物体内に蓄積している人工有害化学物質(PCB、DDT、BHC窓)を分析し、バイカル湖とその周辺域の環境モニタリング調査を実施した。2)8月、バイカル湖でソコミジンコの調査を実施し、種多様性の発生機構の調査を実施した。3)8-9月。バイカル湖全域でヨコエビ類を採集し、種分化に関する研究を行った。特に、アイソザイムを用いた遺伝的形質の特徴から、 Eulimnogammarus cyaneusの個体群は約6万年前にアンガラ川を境にして南北に分化したと推定された。4)8月、バイカル湖で海綿の調盃を実施し、淡水海綿の生活様式を明かにした。5)9月、カスピ海のパール島に上陸しているカスピヵイアザラシにアルゴスを装着し、本種の分布、移動、潜水行動を調査した。同時に、カスピカイアザラシの体内に蓄積している有害化学物質や放射性核種(Pu、Sr、Osなど)を分析し、カスピ海の環境モニタリング調査を行った。6)カジカ類の胸部筋肉の比較研究をサントペテルスブルグにある動物学研究所にて実施し、コメフォラス科魚類は本系統的に進化してきていることを明らかにした。7)平成10年11月5-10日に、バイカル湖に関心を持っているロシア・アメリカ・イギリス・スイス・ベルギー・ドイツ・フィンランド・インド・オーストラリア・日本の研究者約200名が一堂に会し、横浜・箱根でバイカル湖に関する国際シンポジウム「BICER,BDP and DIWPA joint International Symposium on Lake Baikal」が開催された。本研究分担者はそれぞれの研究分野のトピックスを発表し、その成果をもとに今後の研究計画を議論した。
