Research Abstract

アイスランドにおける昭和基地とのオーロラ共役点観測は9月の秋分期に約3週間実施した。天候に恵まれ、興味深いオーロラ現象を多くとらえることができた。南極中国中山基地でのオーロラ観測に関しては、観測の継続だけでなく、6月には上海において「日中共同シンポジウム」を開催した。北極域のスバールバルでは、EISCATレーダーと地上観測との同時観測を重視して実施した。Super DARNレーダーによる特別共同観測では、Super DARNレーダーによる共役性観測や衛星同時観測のための特別モードキャンペーンを年間10回実施した。
具体的な研究概要としては、アイスランドでの観測から、(a)オメガバンド脈動オーロラの発達過程とHFレーダーとの関係、(b)ブラックオーロラの発達過程、(c)サブストームの共役性、等に関する新たな観測事実が得られた。中山基地での観測から、(a)周期的変動オーロラのタイプ別けと統計解析、(b)昼間オーロラのダイナミックス、(c)イメージング・リオメータの共役性、等に関する新たな観測事実が得られた。Super DARNレーダーの特別観測から、(a)Pc3-5地磁気脈動のレーダーと衛星との周期・位相特性の比較、(b)昼間の可視オーロラとSuper DARNレーダーとの時間的・空間的変動特性、(c)夜側電離圏対流のグローバル変動、等に関する新たな観測事実が得られた。EISCATレーダーを用いた観測から、極域電離圏における(a)電離圏上部において発生するイオン流出現象、(b)電離圏下部における中性大気ダイナミクス、そして(c)沿磁力線電流の研究を進めた。
