Research Abstract	北極海洋科学会議(AOSB)の提唱による国際北極ポリニア研究計画(IAPP)の「ノースウォーター海域での国際共同海洋観測」(NOW)が成功裏に完了したことにより、国内においては、過去3年間に得られた膨大な試資料の処理、解析が精力的に実施された。先ず、データ処理、解析の作業手順や分担内容について、カナダ国内はもとより、本国際共同研究に参加している国々や関係研究者との間において、十分な検討を進めた。その方針により、それぞれにおいて観測結果の取りまとめが行われた。いまだ中間的な研究内容であるが、以下の諸会合にて発表された。すなわち、12月、国立極地研究所における第22回極域生物シンポジウムにて合計6件の研究発表が、2月、紋別市での第15回北方圏国際シンポジウムにて合計12件、更に、国立極地研究所での第2回国際北極環境シンポジウムにおいても合計9件が発表された。同時に、米国サンアントニオでの米国陸水・海洋学会年次会合においても多数の発表が行われた。これらの研究会合では個々の発表だけではなく、小規模ながら関係研究者間での更なる共同解析計画が検討された。また、米国ではAOSBのIAPP執行委員会も開催され将来計画の方向性が検討された。これらの研究成果は国際専門誌への特別号としての出版計画が進められている。また、NOW研究と並行して小規模ながらノルウェー主導によるスバールバル海域への研究航海に一部参加し、北極海域の予備的生態系変動の比較研究を行った。
