Research Abstract

本研究の主要テーマは1)血清学的に鑑別が困難とされてきているエキノコックス症(多包虫症単包虫症)ならびに嚢虫症それぞれについての鑑別血清診断法の確立、2)遺伝子診断法の開発、3)流行地での展開であった。研究は非常に順調に進展し、原著論文32編、口頭発表(国際会議、外国傘会のみ、23題)、総説その他の出版物(9編)を発表することができた。
1) 血清診断法については、多包虫症、単包虫症、嚢虫症それぞれについて国際的に最も信頼性が高いと評価され始めている検査法を基本的に確立でき、それぞれ米国熱帯医学会誌に発表した。
2) 遺伝子診断法については岡本を中心としてミトコンドリアDNAの特定の酵素遺伝子解析に基づき、単包虫の株その他のテニア科条虫についての分子系統樹の解析に有用であることを報告した。その後、北海道で分離された多包虫の株を用い、ミトコンドリアDNAの全塩基配列の解読に成功し、現在では条虫、吸虫すべての遺伝子解析が基本的には可能になったと判断している。この研究成果は中尾を中心に進められたもの(論文作成中)である。
3) エキノコックス症については中国、四川省と青海省にまたがるチベット高地の住民であるチベット民族を対象とするエキノコックス症疫学調査にEm18-immunoblot法による多包虫症と単包虫症との鑑別診断法が導入され、その他の血清診断法、画像診断法との比較解析から最も信頼性が高い方法であるという成績が得られている(論文準備中)。また、嚢虫症についての血清診断法をインドネシア(イリアン・ジャヤ)、パブア・ニューギニア、中国、南アフリカに展開し、それぞれの国々での深刻な流行の実態が判明し始めている。
現在これらの国々以外の流行国からも共同研究の相談を受けている。これらの血清診断、遺伝子解析研究成果に基づき、来年度からの新規の国際学術(共同研究)で更なる展開が大いに期待できる。
