Research Abstract	5月10日に総括班会議(幹事会、藤井、石井、山本、半田、加藤、鍋島、浜田が出席)を東京で開催し、本年度の活動方針を決定した。決定された活動方針は次の通りである。ニュースレターの発行を年3回(8月、12月、3月)、班員名簿の発行(6月)、計画研究及び公募研究の研究成果集の発行(3月)、を行うことに決めた。また、公開シンポジウムは6月に仙台で開くこと、研究成果発表のコンファランスは平成13年1月に大阪で開くことにした。今年度は本特定領域研究の最後の年になるので例年より遅く開催することにしたために、例年1月に開いていた若手を中心にしたワークショップはこれに吸収するかたちで中止にした。これらの活動方針は順調に遂行されている。すなわち、名簿は6月に発行、ニュースレターは8月、12月に各々発行配布された。公開シンポジウムは平成12年6月2日、仙台艮陵会館で「幹細胞と遺伝子発現制御」 (世話人松崎文雄、東北大学加齢医学研究所)のテーマのもとに開催された。テーマが時宜を得ていたこともあって全国から100名を超える参加者があり、熱心な討論に終始した。若い研究者の参加が特に目立つ会であった。研究成果発表コンファランス(世話人浜田博司、大阪大学生体細胞工学センター)は平成13年1月11日〜13日まで3日間大阪ライフセンターを会場にして開催され、計画研究21演題、公募研究40演題、班友による研究4演題、合計65演題の発表があった。これは公募研究の増加によって、昨年より7演題多い数である。参加者は発表者と同伴者を含めて150名を越えていた。多くの新しい発見もあり、活気のある討論があった。本特定領域研究の最終年度の報告集とニュースレターは3月中に発行されるためにその作業が順調に進められている。
