| Research Abstract |
研究2年目の今年度は、北海道サロマ湖で海氷生態系のモデルフィールド実験を、また現場海氷生態系としてオホーツク海を対象としてセジメント・トラップ実験で解析を進めた。
モデルフィールド実験では、海氷の発達にあわせて海氷試料を得て、海氷の発達、特に海水の結氷による部分と、海氷の上に降り積もった雪が凍った部分を特定し、海氷中でのアイス・アルジーの詳細分布を検討した。海水の結氷の際に形成されたブライン・チャネル並びにブライン・ポケットとアイス・アルジーの分布の関係は、方法的に問題が残りまだ詰めきれていない。また、海氷を取り除いた海域を作り、そこでの海氷の形成とそれに伴う生物・化学的な変化を追跡し、海氷形成初期の状況を検討した。
オホーツク海の北緯44度31分と東経144度44分の水深1551mの地点で、492mと1470mの深さに1997年10月から1998年9月までセジメント・トラップを設置・回収し、これまでの解析結果から以下の3点が明らかになった。1)12月下旬から1月下旬に3g・m^<-2>・日^<-1>に達する大きな粒子束が観察され、今後の解析で浅海堆積物の舞上がりかあるいは一時的な生物生産の上昇かが判明する。2)海域が流氷で覆われていた1月下旬から3月下旬まで粒子束が減少し、1.5g・m^<-2>・日^<-1>まで低下した。3)4月-6月の2ヶ月間の粒子束は2.5g・m^<-2>・日^<-1>に増大し維持された。海氷が溶けた後のブルームとそれに引き続く春のブルーによる生物生産の活性化に起因すると考えられ、今後の試料分析によりさらに新しい知見が期待される。セジメント・トラップは、同じ地点の992mと1470mに再度設置して1999年9月に揚収の予定である。
