| Research Abstract |
研究3年目の今年度は、昨年度に引き続き北海道サロマ湖で海氷生態系のモデルフィールド実験を、また現場海氷生態系としてオホーツク海を対象としてセジメント・トラップ実験で解析を進めた。さらに、冬季に結氷するバルチック海との比較研究も実施した。
モデルフィールド実験では、海氷を取り除いた海域を作り、そこでの海氷の形成とそれに伴う物理・生物・化学的な変化を追跡し、海氷形成初期の状況を検討した。物理学的な観測はバルチック海での実験結果と比較検討した。海氷と雪の量の違いの影響を湖に注ぐ河口と海への湖口の間をライントランゼクト的に物理・化学・生物パラメターを調べることで明らかにすることを試みた。また、湖内での植物プランクトンとアイスアルジーの生産力と被食実験を行った。
これまでオホーツク海は政治的な問題があって海洋調査研究は難しかったが、本研究計画では関係者の努力で幸いに周年のセジメント・トラップの係留系観測が可能になった。実際には、1997年10月から現在まで、サハリン沖に2カ所と紋別沖に1カ所、係留系を設置でき、回収にも成功した。すべてのとラップで、北部北太平洋などに比べて1〜2桁の有機物を中心とした非常に多くの沈降粒子束が得られ、オホーツク海の生産性の高さが明らかになった。元素分析結果から、オパールの存在量の多さが確認され、珪藻類の優占性が明らかになった。海氷で覆われている期間の沈降粒子束は小さく、海氷の消失後沈降粒子束が増大し始め、夏の初めに最大になるという大きな周年変動が確認された。また、空きに再び沈降粒子束の増大が見られた。セジメント・トラップの係留実験は現在も継続中である。
