Research Abstract	本研究は3年という期間の中で離散幾何における組み合せ論的手法を発展させ、方法論として確立することを目的としている。本年度はその初年度にあたり、離散幾何の問題の組み合せ論的側面の抽出とグラフ理論の問題を離散幾何に応用するための基礎技術の開発を目指した。以下にその研究成果の代表的なものを挙げる。・三角形に対する各種の刑務所問題は比較的簡単に解かれるため、刑務所問題においては与えられた多角形を三角形に分割するアプローチがしばしば取られる。この際、1つの三角形分割からより望ましい三角形分割に変形する操作が求められる。本研究者はそのための一般的な枠組みとして対角変形という変形操作を開発し、ある程度頂点数の大きい三角形分割においては対角変形が極めて良い振る舞いを示すことを証明した。・照明角が制限された照明問題は刑務所問題の1つであるが、この問題の持つグラフ理論的な側面を抽出した。・グラフ理論上の成果を離散幾何に応用するための方法の1つとして、グラフを細分して単位距離グラフに変換する手法を開発した。・離散幾何の問題にはグラフのハミルトン性に帰着するものが多い。一方グラフのハミルトン性を調べる1つの手法として閉包と呼ばれる変形操作がある。本研究者はクローフリーグラフと呼ばれるグラフのクラスの上で極めて良い振る舞いを示す新しい閉包操作を開発した。・離散幾何にはグラフの因子分解に帰着するものも多い。因子分解においては今まで3部以上の部集合を持つ他部グラフについてはほとんど何も知られていなかったが、本研究者は3部グラフを調べる手法を開発し、それを用いて完全3部グラフの完全2部グラフへの因子分解の問題を解決した。本研究ではそのほかにも多くの知見が得られており、初年度の研究は目的を達成したと考えられる。
