Research Abstract |
Along the main purpose of the research project, a numerical simulation was conducted on the transports, sinks and sources of CO2 using a global transport model developed in this research project. A regional model was also applied to a high-resolution smulation of transport in order to study the regional CO2 budget. This research has showed that the model will be usable to join our vegitation model with the climate model. Some numerical potential questions on use of a regional-area climate model was almost not serious in long-term integrations but practically away from problem, so the regional high-resolution climate model run very well. In the near future we need to increase the resolution of the numerical model for the more acurate simulations than the present. We have begun a study on a combined climate-vegitation simulation. The first stage was grossly well done with given parameters of climate factors such as temperature, presipitation, humidity, soil wetness, and CO2 mixing ration. An interesting result is that the modeled vegitation over huge desert areas completely disappeared. This must be, however, checked by many respects to confirm whether it is real or not. It have been suggested that the vegitation models are very sensitive to conditions of meteorological and climatological factors. The present fundamental research project was original in the worldwide and the first stage to investigate a combined system of CO2-climate-vegitation from interdisciplinary approaces. We have clearly showed the potentiality of modeling the combained system.
