Research Abstract	新興・再興感染症として世界的規模で流行、汚染地域拡大が年々深刻化してきている寄生虫病にテニア科条虫の幼虫が人体ならびに家畜動物に寄生することによって惹起される包虫症(単包虫症、多包虫症)と襄虫症とがある。いずれも難治性寄生虫疾患で、死の転帰を取ることが非常に多く、早期鑑別診断法の確立は国際的ニーズが高い緊急を要する研究課題である。本研究ではこれらの鑑別を要する寄生虫病について旭川医科大学寄生虫学講座におけるこれまでの実績に基づく国際共同研究を展開することによって(1)世界的流行の現状把握につとめ、(2)多包虫症、単包虫症、有鉤襄虫症それぞれの鑑別診断法の原法をまず確立した。その上で(3)鑑別診断用抗原精製法に検討を加え、(4)遺伝子組換え抗原作製を試み、(5)国際的に最も信頼性が高いと評価される多包虫症、単包虫症、有鉤襄虫症それぞれについて血清学的鑑別診断法を確立している。これらの成績に基づき(6)世界各地における流行地域での疫学調査研究への参加を要請されている。さらに(7)病巣から摘出されるエキノコックス標本あるいは襄虫標本、さらには人体から排出されるテニア科条虫受胎片節、虫卵などを用いた遺伝子鑑別診断法の確立の基礎となる多包虫、有鉤襄虫ミトコンドリアDNA全塩基配列の解読に世界で最初に成功し、(8)条虫が利用しているユニークな遺伝子暗号の読み始め(ATGとGTG)と読み終えに利用しているコドン(TAGとTAA)を発見したことが最大の基礎研究成果である。(9)分子疫学研究あるいは(10)寄生虫と宿主の共進化と世界拡散についての遺伝子レベルの研究展開が今後の基礎研究課題である。昨年9月にアルゼンチンで開催されただい19回国際エキノコックス症会議に本研究代表者、伊藤亮が「多包虫症単包虫症、有鉤襄虫症についての血清学的鑑別診断法」と題する招聘講演を要請され、この発表論文が会議における最優秀論文賞に選ばれている。
