Research Abstract	今年度から領域内の研究課題を4つの分野、1)国際比較による民族疫学研究、2)発がん・予防に関する分析疫学研究、3)発がんリスクの個体差を解明する分子疫学研究、4)進展・予後に関する臨床疫学研究、に再編成して機能的な研究推進を図ってきた。さらに、総括班のもとに三つの委員会、1)大規模コーホート研究運営委員会、2)分子疫学生体材料利用委員会、3)ATL研究推進委員会、を設置して各分野間で共有できる研究資料や生体材料の効率的運用を図ってきた。本領域の重要な研究課題の一つである大規模コーホート研究においては、昨年度までに肺がんと胃がんの危険・防御要因の解析を終了したので、平成14〜15年度は大腸がんと肝臓がんを対象とした血清疫学的解析、特に大腸がんでは各種脂肪酸成分量を、肝臓がんでは関連ウイルスの抗原・抗体価を検索し、それぞれ生活習慣との関連性において危険・防御要因を解析中である。また、分子疫学生体材料利用委員会は10万人以上を対象とした全国規模の分子疫学コーホートの設立を計画し、国民の研究への理解と協力の推進、倫理的対応、標準化した生活習慣質問票の作成、生体試料の保管・利用方法など重要課題について検討してきた。さらに、ATL研究推進委員会では本邦における過去20年間の疫学的、基礎的、臨床的研究成果を再評価し、新しい研究手法を駆使して新しく挑戦できる包括的な研究課題について検討してきた。一方、領域内では総括報告会を開催し、全分野の計画研究(22課題)や公募研究(27課題)の成果に関する相互情報交換、および各研究の問題点や研究協力の可能性などについて建設的討議を行ってきた。同時に、ヒト集団のがん予防を目指した疫学・予防研究の成果を広く国民に伝達していくため、平成12〜13年度に引き続き一般公開シンポジウムを広島市と東京都で開催し、HPにおいても公開してきた。
