| Research Abstract |
4領域全体の調整・推進、わが国のゲノム研究の機動的・有機的な研究推進のシステム作り、ピーク研究を支えるための基盤研究事業の支援、すそ野を広げるための研究支援事業、社会との接点などの活動をおこなった。主なものとして以下をあげる。
研究支援委員会
1)シーケンシングセンター委員会:年間1200万リードのキャパシティをもつシーケンシングシステムを構築し、4領域のゲノム/cDNAシーケンシングについて全面的に請け負った。本年度はメダカゲノム(800Mb)のホールゲノムショットガンを行い、すでに7Xのカバー率の約1200万リードをアッセンブルしドラフト配列を得た。高精度配列へ向けた作業を進めている。一昨年度から続けていた原始紅藻(16.5Mb)の完全配列を決定し、論文発表した。また、ショウジョウバエ近縁種、ゼニゴケY染色体全体にわたるBAC/PAC/cosmidクローンを決定した。cDNAについては、線虫、ホヤ、ヌタウナギ、メダカ、シクリッド、ドジョウ、原始紅藻、オオムギ、コムギ、ヒメツリガネゴケ、アサガオ、などから約100万ESTを得た。
2)リソース委員会:本特定領域研究で作成された遺伝子改変系統や遺伝子クローンの維持・配布支援をおこなった。
対外委員会
1)広報委員会:ホームページ、メールニュース、シンポジウムなどの活動をおこない、対社会、対研究コミュニティへの情報公開・発信をおこなった。
2)産学連携・協力委員会:特許問題を含め、本特定の成果の産業創生への橋渡しの拠点となるべく、議論を進めた。
3)社会との接点委員会:ゲノム科学と社会の双方向のやりとりの場として第2回目の「ゲノムひろば」を東京、京都、福岡で開催し、交流の実をあげるとともに、今後の問題点を整理した。また、医科学倫理問題の検討を進めた。
