Research Abstract

1.ゼラフシャン流域の環境調査は夏と秋に行い、採取試料は京都大学においてICP-MSを使った質量分析を行った。灌漑水、飲料水、河川水におけるウラン濃度はWHO基準を100〜1,000倍上回っていた。この問題とサマルカンド、ブハラ、更にはサルミッシュ等文明の起源である地域をどう見るか。科学的疑問は大きくかつ重い。この結果の一部は国際誌や国際学会などで発表し、詳細は投稿論文としてまとめつつある。
2.アフガニスタンで空爆が開始された。そのためセミパラチンスク、アズギール周辺のリモートセンシング情報が入手困難となった。我々は急遽、解析対象をアフガニスタン北部とウズベキスタン南部、タジキスタン南部に変更し、現地研究者の協力を得てアフガニスタン国境付近を探索した。その結果、上記1の研究過程で明らかになった旧ソ連の灌漑技術がアフガニスタン北部に適用できることが明らかとなった。ウズベキスタン灌漑技術者や米国研究者と連絡をとりつつ、現在「Afghanistan Revival(仮題)」という英文書籍を執筆中である。基礎となるアムダリアの水文データは、1936〜1987年にわたりデータベース化し、各国研究機関に配布予定である。
3.中央アジアの鉱物資源、エネルギー資源はウズベキスタン・ナボイ金属採鉱精錬コンビナート(NMMC)が技術と経験を活かして探査、採掘を行い、同国国家収入の半分の納税額を誇っている。2002年7月に同社、ウズベキスタン科学アカデミー、本海外学術調査団は3者協定を結び、学術交流と試料提供を図ることとした。できうれば2003年度からサルミシュ保全と土中点滴灌漑試験を開始する予定である。
