Research Abstract	平成14年度の研究は、次の3項目の対象に対して行われたので、それぞれについて述べる。 1.初期宇宙:宇宙初期の時空構造としての多次元世界(ブレーンワールド)に埋められた4次元時空の研究が盛んに行われ,フリードマン宇宙の再現、ニュートン力からのずれの問題など、多くの成果が得られた。また、ストリング理論、超重力理論にもとずくインフレ-ション宇宙のモデルや密度揺らぎの生成についても研究された。さらに、これらの時空の特異点(裸の特異点も含む)の研究も多くなされた。 2.重力波、ブラックホール:中性子星、ブラックホール等のコンパクト星のバイナリ-(二重星)の運動の一般相対論的取り扱い、および、重力波放出の研究が精力的に行われた。また、銀河中心に見つかった中質量のブラックホールの観測的、理論的研究がなされた。ガンマ線バーストの発生機構との関連において、quark starやhypernovaの観測と理論的モデルが注目され研究された。さらに、日本および欧米の重力波検出装置(TAMA300、LIGO等)の稼働に対応して、検出のための解析が熱心になされた。 3.非一様性、大規模構造と重力レンズ現象:Ia型超新星の加速現象の観測データを再現する宇宙モデルとして、宇宙定数または、未知の物質(クインテッセンス)を含むものが考えられ、その物質の状態方程式の研究が行われた。重力レンズ現象に関しては、弱レンズ効果による大規模構造の研究が注目された。また、上記の超新星のレンズ効果にもとずくハッブル定数の決定についても研究された。大規模構造と宇宙背景放射の非等方性の関連についての研究も盛んであった。以上の研究結果の多くは、平成14年10月に東京大学にて開催した「一般相対論および重力」研究会および12月にイタリアで開催されたテキサスシンポジウムにおいて発表され、議論された。
