Research Abstract	平成15年度の研究は、次の3項目の対象に対して行われたので、それぞれについて述べる。 1.初期宇宙:宇宙初期の時空構造としての多次元世界(ブレーンワールド)に埋められた4次元時空の研究が盛んに行われ,フリードマン宇宙の再現、ニュートン力からのずれの問題など、多くの成果が得られた。また、最近観測的に見つかった(宇宙背景放射の)非等方性の異常性を説明すべく、ストリング理論、超重力理論にもとずくインフレーション宇宙のモデルについても多くの研究がなされた。 2.重力波、ブラックホール:中性子星、ブラックホール等のコンパクト星のバイナリー(二重星)の運動の一般相対論的取り扱い、および、重力波放出の研究が精力的に行われた。また、ガンマ線バーストの発生機構との関連において、quark starやhypernovaの観測と理論的モデルが注目され研究された。さらに、日本および欧米の重力波検出装置(TAMA300、LIGO等)の活動に対応して、検出のための解析が熱心になされた。 3.非一様性、大規模構造と重力レンズ現象:Ia型超新星の加速現象,宇宙背景放射(CMB)の温度非等方性、および銀河、銀河団の分布に関する観測データを再現する宇宙モデルが研究され、今年度はとくに、衛星観測WMAPによるCMBの詳細な観測結果が発表された。その結果、宇宙が一様等方である限り、宇宙モデルは正の宇宙定数をもち、ほぼ平坦であることが確定的となった。しかし、同時に、このようなモデルでは説明できない現象も見つかってきた。これらは、宇宙の非一様性からのずれを示すものかも知れず、今後の研究を必要とする。また、Sunyaev-Zeldovich効果にもとずく宇宙構造およびハッブル定数の決定についても研究された。以上の研究結果の多くは、平成15年12月に大阪市立大学にて開催した「一般相対論および重力」研究会および11月に東京で開催されたRESCUE国際シンポジウム("Frontier in Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology")において発表され、議論された。
