Research Abstract

空中写真によるメソスケールの森林現象の動態モニタリング技術の開発を目的とし、1)GPS評定点測量と空中写真によるモニタリング手法の開発、2)GISへの組み込み、3)森林被害地・森林衰退地・森林撹乱地での技術的応用の検討、を行った。
1)については、長崎県対馬龍良山照葉樹林、鳥取県大山ブナ林、岐阜県御岳亜高山帯林、にて時系列空中写真と林冠DEMを用いた長期林冠動態調査方法を開発した。本方法と地上調査に基づく方法と比較したところ、十分な精度を有し、汎用化技術して使用できることが判明した。さらに、空中写真からの樹種判別を可能にするために、樹冠構造の解析をいくつかの樹種で行い、判別の目処をつけることができた。
2)については、上記の調査地、および北海道東大雪亜寒帯林にて、リモートセンシングデータのGISへの組み込み手順をマニュアル化した。
1)、2)の技術的応用として、奈良県と三重県の県境に位置する大台ヶ原において、1965年から1997年までの間に6回撮影された空中写真を用いてササ草原面積の増加を測定した。また、この結果を1982年より行われてきた大台ヶ原におけるニホンジカ生息密度調査の結果と比較し、シカ生息密度が草原の増加に与える影響について考察した。その結果、ニホンジカの個体数増加が大台ヶ原の森林のミヤコザサ草原化を促進していると考えられた。
さらに、鹿児島県高隈山系のブナ分布の南限地ブナの分布実態を標準地調査と空中写真によるメソスケール的測定の双方から明らかにし,今後のモニタリングに活用することを目的とした研究を行った。その結果、マクロスケールとミクロスケールのモニタリングの間隙を埋める空中写真によるメソスケールの情報が森林現象動態の大面積長期の把握にきわめて重要であることがわかった。
本研究で開発した諸技術は汎用性があり、今後、様々な森林現象動態の大面積長期の把握に活用されるものと考えられる。
