Research Abstract

廃棄物からの浸出水に含まれる各種化学物質・環境影響物質による周辺環境の汚染を防止するため,廃棄物処分場においては遮水工を設置することが義務づけられている。本研究では,遮水工の機能を長期的に高い信頼性をもって確保することを目的として,(1)廃棄物覆土層の長期的な耐久性および構造安定性,(2)底部遮水工材料と有害物質の相互作用と遮水性能への影響,(3)海面埋立処分場の護岸構造を対象とした構造安定性と遮水性能の両立性,といった観点から実験および数値解析に基づいた評価を実施する。さらには,リスクアセスメントの手法を導入して,耐久性に優れた合理的な処分場の構造形式の提案を試みる。今年度に得られた成果は以下の通りである。
(1)廃棄物処分場覆土層の耐久性と環境リスク低減効果の評価
廃棄物処分場の覆土層(カバーシステム)に用いられる低透水性材料を対象として,乾湿繰り返し等に対する耐久性試験を実施し,材料の間隙構造の変化,収縮,クラックの発生による透水特性への影響を実験的に検討した。さらに,覆土の透水特性,透気特性に基づいて,廃棄物層から発生するガスの制御手法,および処分場における水分収支を定量的に評価し,処分場覆土層の設置の必要性を示した。
(2)底部遮水工材料の有害汚染物質との相互作用の解明
廃棄物処分場の底部ライナーとして一般的に適用されている粘土ライナーやジオシンセティッククレイライナー,ベントナイト混合土といった材料に,無機系・有機系の汚染物質が長期にわたって接触した場合の,ライナーの遮水性への影響を室内試験により評価した。さらに,粘土ライナー中のpHや酸化還元電位,微生物活動が汚染物質(重金属)の挙動に与える影響を室内試験により評価し,重金属は粘土ライナー中に非溶解性の形態で安定的に保持されることを示した。
