中赤外レーザー駆動水の窓軟Ｘ線の高出力化とシングルショット撮像の実現

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

コンパクトで帯域放射の高効率水の窓 (波長2.3 ~ 4.4 nm) 軟X線光源により，生体細胞をシングルショット撮影できる卓上型軟X線顕微鏡を開発し，研究室サイズで生命科学分野に貢献できるインパクトのある撮影を目指している．高効率水の窓軟X線光源を実現するため，従来の線放射ではなく帯域放射により，シングルショット撮影に必要な出力を確保し，変換効率も従来方式よりも10倍以上大きい0.1%以上にすることを目標にしている．
(1) 高品質中赤外レーザーの短パルス高強度化においては，ナノ秒のパルス幅を有する中赤外レーザーでは集光径が大きいことから集光強度が上がらず，水の窓軟X線放射量が少ないことが明らかになったため，サブナノ秒のパルス幅を有する固体レーザーに変更した．ただし，開発したナノ秒中赤外レーザーは，水の窓軟X線には適用できなかったものの，原子番号が50番から70番までの元素に対する軟X線分光実験に適用することができた．
(2) 高い原子番号 (特にBi) 多価イオンの放射の高効率化・高輝度化においては，斜入射分光器を較正したことから，光子数密度を評価することができるようになり，二重パルス照射法で高出力化かつ高輝度化することができるようになった．また，Biに留まらず，Moでも同様の効果があることが明らかになった．
(3) 多価イオン光源の放射流体シミュレーションとスペクトル純度の向上においては，BiおよびPtで放射流体数値解析を実施し，電子温度および電子密度を評価できるようになると共に，スペクトル構造を二重パルス照射法で変化させることができることを明らかにした．
(4) X線顕微鏡でのシングルショット撮像評価と生体細胞撮影では，具体的にメダカの精子を用いて生きたままの細胞の撮像を試みた．光量不足からボケた撮像しかできなかったが，試行実験を実施することができた．

Reason

光源部を高出力化・高輝度化することができると共に，水の窓軟X線顕微鏡による撮像まで進んだことから，本区分とした．具体的には，研究概要で述べた(1)~(4)の項目の内，3項目では学・協会誌論文および査読付国際会議論文にも公表されたことから，この判断が妥当であると考えている．
一方，水の窓軟X線顕微鏡の高分解能化について，新しいアイデアが出るに至った．そのため，本研究が採択された当初の研究計画に加えて，新しいアイデアに基づく高分解能化のための要素技術開発にも着手した．

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究では，光源部だけでなく軟X線の光学系の開発も重要であるが，Bi多価イオンからの水の窓軟X線スペクトルに合致する反射特性を有する多層膜鏡の開発にも成功した．この結果は，従来の反射率（0.1%以下）を約300倍も改善する約25%もの反射率を有する多層膜鏡であり，軟X線顕微鏡を300倍明るくできるものである．多層膜鏡の反射率が大幅に改善されたことから，これを水の窓軟X線顕微鏡に設置する．この結果，撮像も明るくかつシャープな像が得られるものと考えている．
上記に加えて，新しいアイデアに基づく高分解能化のための要素技術を組み会わせ，性能評価までこぎ着ける予定である．
