Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ナノカーボン材料である単層カーボンナノチューブ(SWNT)およびグラフェンのCVD法による合成技術の開発を進めた.SWNTについては,特殊な二元系合金であるCo-W触媒に着目し,スパッタリングで作製したCo-W触媒微粒子から成長したSWNTの詳細な構造(カイラリティ)の分析を行ったところ,特定のカイラリティのSWNTが選択的に成長することが明らかになった.また同時にCo-W触媒微粒子の原子レベルでの分析も行った.さらに合成後の半導体および金属SWNTが混在しているSWNTサンプルに対し,金属SWNTのみを選択的に除去する技術や合成した垂直配向SWNTの機械的特性の計測も行った.さらにグラフェン合成においては,2層構造を有するグラフェンを効率よく成長させる条件を見出すことに成功している.これらのナノカーボン材料作製技術の向上を踏まえ,SWNTを電極材料や透明電気伝導膜に用いることでペロブスカイト型太陽電池といった太陽電池への応用研究を進めた.同時に,ペロブスカイト太陽電池にZnOを電極として用いることでペロブスカイト型太陽電池自身の性能向上も実現している.
また,リチウムイオン内包フラーレンを正孔輸送層内に用いたペロブスカイト太陽電池の開発に成功した.リチウムイオン内包フラーレンは還元電位が低く,正孔を発生させることができる(Chem. Sci. 2016, 7, 5770.).この効果により,これまでspiro-MeOTADと呼ばれる有機半導体層に対する正孔ドーパントとして働き,さらにその素子の耐久性が向上することが分かった.

Reason

ナノカーボン材料(SWNTやグラフェン,フラーレン)の合成技術が予想以上に発展し,すでに太陽電池などへの応用研究においても成果を得ることに成功した.
さらに,SWNTだけでなく,新奇分子であるリチウムイオン内包フラーレンをドーパントした太陽電池素子の作製に成功した.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

成長したSWNTの構造分析を詳細に行いSWNTカイラリティ制御合成法の選択性向上を目指していく.また,クローニング成長法においては成長条件を吟味することで再成長確率を増加させていく.ナノカーボン材料同士だけでなく,様々な材料との接合面・界面における特性を明らかにし太陽電池などにおける効率向上を進めていく.
さらに,多様なナノカーボン材料をドーパントとして用い,その新奇特性を活かした有機太陽電池を検討する.特にリチウムイオン内包フラーレンについては,様々な分析を通して固体中での振る舞いを明らかにする.
