Outline of Annual Research Achievements

グラフェンやMoS2,h-BNなどの原子層物質のCVD合成技術を発展させ,積層または平面内に接合した様々なハイブリッド構造を実現した.さらに,これらの合成技術を応用し,SWCNT表面への原子層物質の積層化を実現した.具体的にはSWCNTの外層にhBNナノチューブ,さらにMoS2ナノチューブを合成することに成功した.とくに,架橋SWCNTの外層にh-BNナノチューブを合成したヘテロナノチューブにラマン散乱分光法を用いることで,その物性の詳細な分析が可能になった.合成温度(約1000度)と室温との温度差に由来した熱膨張差がヘテロナノチューブ物性に大きな影響を与えることを明らかにすることに成功した.また,同位体炭素13Cを用いたラベリング技術によって,鉄およびコバルト触媒によるSWCNT成長速度やインキュベーションタイムの差異などを明らかとするとともに一定時間の成長停止後の再成長の実験も実現した.一方,分子動力学法によるモデル計算と実験との比較により,カイラリティ決定のメカニズムに迫った.
太陽電池応用においては,透明・フレキシブル電極としてのSWNT薄膜の電気伝導特性,光透過特性などの物性制御を進めると同時に,ペロブスカイト型太陽電池へ応用しその変換効率の向上を実現した.またフラーレンやその誘導体(PCBMなど)を用いた電子・正孔の分離性能をさらに高めながら,耐久性の向上も実現した.カーボンナノチューブを独自に設計した有機半導体などでドープすることにより高機能化し,有機薄膜太陽電池やペロブスカイト太陽電池の高効率化や長寿命化に貢献するカーボンナノチューブ薄膜透明電極の開発に成功した.また,ペロブスカイト太陽電池のホール輸送層をリチウムイオン内包フラーレンでドープすることにより,耐久性が10倍上がるペロブスカイト太陽電池を得た.

Current Status of Research Progress

Reason

積層または平面内に接合した様々なハイブリッド構造を実現するとともに,SWCNT表面への原子層物質の積層化を実現できたことで,様々な一次元ハイブリッドナノチューブのCVD合成の可能性を示した.SWCNTの外層にhBNナノチューブ,さらにMoS2ナノチューブを合成したハイブリッド構造は,それぞれのらせん構造が透過型電子顕微鏡で決定できるほどに原子レベルでの完全性を有し,様々なデバイスへの応用展開の道が開けた.また,同位体ラベリング法を用いたSWCNT成長メカニズム解析において,異なる合成温度における個々のSWCNT成長速度を分析することに成功し,その温度依存性からSWCNT成長メカニズムにおいて非常に大きな活性化エネルギーが現れることを明らかにした.これは,成長メカニズムへの新たな知見であると同時に,SWCNTの配向性や長さ制御においても重要な情報を与えるものである.
これまで太陽電池の光電変換活性層の外側にある電荷輸送層や電極において,本研究で見出されたカーボンナノチューブを積極的に活用してきた.例えば光電変換活性層からホールのみを捕集するカーボンナノチューブ電極や電子のみを選択的に捕集するカーボンナノチューブ電極を開発してきており,高効率な有機薄膜太陽電池とペロブスカイト型太陽電池を実現した.また,光電変換活性層に半導体カーボンナノチューブを用いることで,極めて優れたペロブスカイト型太陽電池の開発に成功している.さらに,ペロブスカイト太陽電池の長寿命化へ向けた,パッケージングなど含めたデバイス設計と評価も実現している.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

SWCNTの構造制御技術においては,SWCNTの成長機構をさらに明確とし,その知見を基礎として新たな構造制御技術の開発を進める.とくに,同位体炭素(13C)をラベルとして用いた成長観察を応用して直径等の制御に加えて長尺なSWCNTの合成を実現する.また,直接透過型電子顕微鏡による観察の可能なTEMグリッドへの直接合成によって,構造の詳細な検討を進める.1次元ファンデルワールス構造については,SWCNTとhBNナノチューブの外側に様々な遷移金属カルコゲナイドナノチューブを合成して,機能性カーボンナノチューブとしての基礎物性を検討するとともに,太陽電池への応用を検討する.
エネルギーデバイス設計についは,光電変換活性層に機能化カーボンナノチューブや半導体カーボンナノチューブを積極的に使っていき,全体としてナノカーボン材料を豊富に用いた有機系太陽電池の開発を目指す.
